Graphic biography of Anne Frank

Amsterdam, 3/11/2010
Later this year, around Anne Frank’s birthday on 12 June, a graphic biography of Anne Frank will be published.

Anne Frank – The Graphic Biography represents the most important information about her life, as well as its historical context. After positive experiences with two earlier educational graphic books, A Family Secret and The Search, the Anne Frank House decided to publish a graphic book on the life of Anne Frank. Its authors are Sid Jacobson (writer) and Ernie Colón (artist) from the USA. With their earlier publications, including The 9/11 Report, the authors have shown that they are capable of making complex information accessible with creativity, integrity and powerful imagery.

The biography will be published this year in several countries. Hill & Wang (an imprint of Farrar, Straus and Giroux) will publish it in the USA, Canada and several other English speaking countries, MacMillan in the UK and Uitgeverij L (an imprint of Uitgeverij Luitingh) will publish it in the Netherlands. Then there are Carlsen Verlag in Germany, les Editions Belin in France, Rizzoli in Italy and others to follow. The biography is being developed by Hill and Wang in close partnership with the Anne Frank House, and will be complemented by detailed educational materials made possible in part by the support of the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport.
