People in hiding listening to the radio in the Banstraat
Being in possession of a radio and listening to the BBC radio station Radio Orange has been forbidden since 1942. The Aussen family – father, mother and two brothers – have been in hiding since the summer of 1942. In their previous hiding place they were blackmailed but from November 1943 they are able to hide in the Banstraat with the Pos family. There are also others in hiding there.

Going into hiding
People go into hiding to protect themselves from the German occupier. Between 1942 and 1943 it’s mainly Jews who go into hiding; but, later more and more young men do so too in order to avoid being sent to work in Germany. Resistance members and strikers often also go into hiding.
