Norbert Klein is arrested and rescued from the Wilhelminagasthuis hospital
Norbert Klein is a German Jew who has fled from Germany. He belongs to a group of Palestine pioneers, a group who has fled to the Netherlands in order to prepare to work and live in Palestine. After a German raid they are persecuted. A large number have already been picked up in raids in 1941.
Norbert Klein’s job is to find hiding places and escape routes. He is arrested and the names of his contacts in Germany fall into the hands of the SD. Fortunately the contacts are warned in time.
After his arrest Norbert ends up in the Wilhelminagasthuis hospital. He is rescued by retired policeman Koos Heijdra and goes into hiding for the rest of the war.
Resistance
People against the Nazis commit acts of resistance. These people are mostly organized into small groups which are often part of a larger organization. Acts of resistance include; helping people in hiding, stealing and forging ration coupons and identity papers, attacks on public records offices and distribution offices, sabotage, assassinating German military personnel and collaborators; printing and distributing illegal newspapers.
