Allied bombs fall near the Fokker factories
The Allied bombing raid on the Fokker factories on 17 July 1943 has disastrous results. The bombs completely miss their target and land on a residential area. More than 150 people are killed and many die later of their injuries.

Danger from the air
There are also victims of bombing raids in the Netherlands. From the beginning of the war the British air force bombs strategic targets such as military establishments, oil reserves, ammunition supplies and factories. But not all bombs fall on their targets and schools, houses and shops are often hit causing fatalities. The Dutch spend night after night in their basements.
