The Boschplan Exhibition is opened
Plans to plant a forest between the Amstelveenseweg, the Haarlemmervaart, the Nieuwe Meer and the Amstelveense Poel have been ready since 1928. Work starts in 1938 but for many it’s not clear what the plans are.

On 26 January 1937 the Boschplan exhibition opens in the Militiazaal on the Singel. Amsterdammers can see pictures and models of what exactly is going to happen with these 900 hectares of land. The exhibition is a great success. On 8 February there were 15.000 visitors.
The Boschplan is an employment creation scheme to try to solve the problem of unemployment in Amsterdam. In 1942 the Boschplan is renamed 'het Amsterdamse Bos' (Amsterdam Forest).
